One of the unique tools the Beaver Island robotics team uses is a C.N.C. router. We use this useful tool to precisely cut wood and aluminum pieces for the team’s robot. In the 2022-2023 Charged Up season we used aluminum cut by the C.N.C. on mostly the entire robot. The C.N.C. is a rectangular metal frame with a router that can move horizontally, vertically, and up and down. It runs off a computer program called Carbide Create. We design our parts on Carbide ourselves.
Carbide Create is used on the team computers and its simple interface makes it easy to design parts. For a few different years, we designed birdhouse kits and sold them for fundraising to get money to go to FRC competitions and to build the robot. All in all a C.N.C. cutter is very useful and if you have a business in which it could be useful I would strongly recommend purchasing one of these machines for your business.
