The 2017-18 FRC ball starts rolling with District Event selections. Today we enter our first round event choics in the FIRST selection system.

If you are not familiar with the option – you can choose to opt out of the KoP Chassis. You don’t get the frame, gearboxes, motors, belts, gears, etc.

Instead you get $450 AndyMark credit you can use to buy whatever you want. You can use it to buy gear shifters if you already have all the motors and framework you would need (or could get it donated)

You can use it to buy the KoP chassis if you later decide you do want to use it

You ​could use it to buy a new robo-rio if you want to use your gearboxes, motors, and other parts from last year (Please recognize you can not just use the chassis from last year – you can not use anything pre-assembled before kickoff. This means you would need to tear down the old chassis completely (including disassembling the gearboxes to technically be legal) and then you use them for the new season

If you are not ready to tackle alternative drive trains or chassis designs/materials, you should probably stay with the KoP

If you want to go other directions – choose the opt-out
